First Nations and local organizations come together for first ever knowledge exchange

A special occasion at UNBC on Friday, as First Nations Bands and organizations came together for the first annual knowledge exchange event.

Carrier Sekani Chief Terry Teegee helped organize the event, and says the rationale behind such a unique gathering is to open the lines of communication on aboriginal issues and explore options in the community:

“We’re all using research to make informed decisions such as the issues of liquefied natural gas development or any forestry developments, or any research that involves our communities such as the highway of tears missing and murdered women as well as issues with the RCMP, so I think there really needs to be more information that we gather.”

Nearly a hundred people crammed into the Bentley Center for the event, and Teegee says in the past there was a disconnect, and this shows how they are slowing moving past it.

Something going on in the Prince George area you think people should know about?
