Council approves 4.3% tax hike for the city

The annual budget meeting for the City of Prince George ran from afternoon to evening yesterday.

City Council landed on a 4.3% tax increase, though the final break down of how much the public will pay will not be finalized until next month.

Councillor Garth Frizzell said the Employer Health Tax, a provincial cost introduced this year, added an extra million to the budget. Without it, the increase would have been closer to 3.3%.

Council approved three enhancement projects including increased labour costs to staff Masich Place Stadium, an All Wheels Park within Blackburn Park and a Community Cultural Plan.
