The Cariboo Cougars beat the Battleford Stars from Saskatchewan 3-1 at the Mac’s Midget AAA Hockey Tournament in Calgary. The Cougars are 2-1 with their final round robin game against the Waxers, from Markham, Ontario. Cariboo won its opener 6-3 over Lethbridge before dropping a 4-2 decision to the Calgary North Stars.

–The Prince George based Northern Cougars female midget hockey team has its first win at the Mac’s in Calgary. The Northern Cougars are 1-2 following a 2-1 triumph over the Peace Country Storm. They play their final game against Swift Current. The Cougars dropped a pair of one goal games to start the tournament; 1-0 to St Albert and 4-3 to the Westman Wildcats.

–The Prince George Cougars play game three of a five game road trip tonight in Kelowna. The 18-19 Cougars also play Friday in Vancouver and Saturday in Kelowna before hosting Tri-City Jan 6th and 7th.

–Alyssa Connell of Prince George (and her rink of Third Bailey Eberherr, Second Jordan Henson and Lead Erin Ross)
split her first two games at the eight-team Provincial Junior Women’s Curling Championship in Parksville. Connell blew a 6-2 lead after seven and lost 7-6 to Sarah Daniels of Delta in an extra end but came back for a 9-5 victory over Kirsten Zucchet of Chilliwack.
