Prince George Chamber of Commerce looking forward to 2015

2014 was a big year for the Prince George Chamber of Commerce.

This year saw the ‘Consider PG’ campaign wrap up. The successful marketing plan targeted new immigrants in the lower mainland with the aim of bringing skilled labour to the city. The Chamber also sent 31 people on a tourism/educational trip to China.

Events like the Business Excellence Awards, Presidents Gala and Cosmic Golf were all very well attended or sold out. The Chamber also presented multiple mayors debates and candidate forums in November’s municipal election that helped educate voters.

After the calendar year full of events, Chamber CEO Christy Ray says 2014 was a big learning experience;

“I myself was a new CEO, so just learning the ropes, and the rest of the staff was new too. So we’ve had an entire changeover of the Chamber staff team, which could be considered a challenge.”

She added that she was excited that after a year under her belt she is able to move from “from the learning phase to the creative phase.”

She says that the Chamber will be hitting the ground running with a full series of events planned for January and the Canada Winter Games.

Prince George will also be hosting the BC Chamber of Commerce AGM in the spring.
