A convoy of vehicles made their way through the city earlier this week to show support for resource development.
Dozens of vehicles, mostly trucks and semis, met at 9:00 am on Boundary Road, just off of the Yellowhead Highway, before traveling together to the Civic Centre for a rally during the 16th Annual Natural Resources Forum.Â
The forum, which is the largest multi-sector resource conference in Western Canada, was hosting Premier John Horgan.
“The resource sector has been taking a bit of a beating lately from some of the negative groups, so we’d like to let them know there is a positive message and people that do support these industries.”
–Â Dennis Giesbrecht, one of the organizers of the event
Giesbrecht said the recent Wet’suwet’en protest of the Coastal GasLink natural gas pipeline is just one example of a “negative group.”
