CNC & SD 57 get boost from CIM

The College of New Caledonia and School District 57 received an early Christmas gift from a society of industrial professionals.

The Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum handed over a $10,000 cheque this morning toward their partnership with CNC.

District Vice Chair Brenda Hooker says the funding will provide tuition support for Grade 11 and 12 students get their high school credit while also getting credit for the trade they choose.

“It’s really valuable for students to be able to get the dual credits and to graduate Grade 12, as well as have their first year toward the trade that they choose,” she says. “It’s a fantastic collaboration between CNC and School District 57.”

Hooker says students who study a trade usually stay in that community and more people in PG with this kind of training will boost local industry.
