The Independent Investigations Office is looking for witnesses after a police officer was stabbed in Prince George earlier this month.
On Dec. 8th at around 11 p.m., police were dealing with three people near Dominion St. & 3rd Ave.
Police discovered that one of the adult males had outstanding warrants and when they tried to take him into custody, the individual sustained what appeared to be a self-inflicted injury to his neck, according to reports. The officer was also stabbed.
With the IIO taking over the investigation, they believe there were a number of witnesses to the incident and ask anyone with information to come forward to the IIO at 778-988-1041.
A statement released by the Office says “The RCMP and the IIO will work as per the MOU signed by the Chief Civilian Director and BC Police agencies. The RCMP maintain full jurisdiction over any investigation into the actions of the affected person.”
