Year in Review: Downtown Prince George

It’s been quite the year for the development of Prince George’s downtown core, and 2019 is expected to be no different.

“Well there is no doubt about it, 2018 provided us with a lot of exciting news for downtown. The development that we’re going to see with public facilities, such as the Four Seasons pool, and a lot of other work that is being done in that area,” said Colleen Van Mook of the Downtown Business Improvement Association.

“But the private investment has been exciting too, and the fact that we’re going to have people living downtown as part of the new Park House Condominium Project is definitely something that our organization has been looking forward to for a long time.”

Van Mook said the association has a very healthy relationship with the Prince George City Council, which has played a part in the new developments.

“I think that for many years there was a lot of talk about downtown being important, but I think the council that we’ve worked with for the past several years has really put that thought into motion and really provided us with a lot of support, partnerships, and effort,” said Van Mook.

She said their plan is to continue to build on the excellent opportunities that have presented themselves in recent years and to begin to involve more people in making the downtown a better place.
