Midfielder Haley Taylor of Victoria has committed to play for the UNBC Timberwolves in the 2019 Canada West women’s soccer season.
Taylor is a product of the Gorge/Lakehill program in the VIPL.
She says joining a number of Vancouver Island-bred athletes, along with Timberwolves coach Neil Sedgwick, will make for a smooth transition.
“Having so many girls from Victoria on this team makes this that much more comfortable. I was able to talk to them and get their opinions on the school. Plus, having Neil from Victoria is a great thing. I can train with him, and I have been able to see his habits, how he likes to train, and how he sees me as a player,” said the five-foot-nine Taylor in a team news release.
“I’m definitely a playmaker. I like to look at the field, evaluate my best options, and work it forward, backways, sideways, or anywhere I can. I like to use the long ball if I can get a point on the board. I like to use my body to my advantage. I have some muscle on me, so I like to get in on those hard tackles, and I am considered an aggressive player.”
Taylor is set to graduate from Reynolds Secondary in June and will pursue BioMedical Studies at UNBC.
