Hundreds gathered at the Civic Centre in Prince George this evening for the annual Civic Light Up.
The event, which featured dancers, music, Santa Clause, the lighting of the Christmas tree and a fireworks display, is in its 25th year.
Mayor Lyn Hall says a quarter of a century is quite a milestone for an event like that.
“Once you get to 25 years, as we’ve done with the Festival of Trees and with the Light Up, it’s really something. It takes a lot of hard work to get past those first five or eight years, and once you hit 25, it really means you’re stable in the community,” said Hall.
According to him, this year was the biggest turnout for the event yet.
