The St. John Ambulance talked to City Council this week, hoping for some financial help with a new emergency vehicle.
The group is asking the city for $5000 for a new ambulance, which could cost $50,000.
Division 803 Superintendent Eric Peng says a vehicle will raise the group’s presence within the community.
“Our goal is to change that and, hopefully, people will start seeing us, especially if we were to raise this and get this mobile post. It would act as a beacon for people to come and notice us in our community, especially at these big events,” he says.
Peng says the ambulance would improve the group’s safety services, and the money could help leverage more funding.
