PG physician surprised and honoured by award

A Prince George physician was taken aback by an award he recently received.

Garry Knoll, Chair of the Prince George Division of Family Practice, was awarded the Quality Trailblazer Award by the BC Patient Safety and Quality Council.

“They say it’s because I have been working here as a physician who is concerned about the future of healthcare in our community, trying to improve patient safety and also the quality of care.”

Knoll said he has been working with some very talented colleagues and staff to try and make some changes in the way that healthcare is provided in town.

“We’re trying to improve the quality of bed care and also work conditions for our members.”

“I was just a normal everyday family doctor, working hard and trying to keep an eye on the quality issues that we face every day. But it’s great to be a part of a larger piece of work and the work that the council does,” said Knoll.

“I feel very honoured, I couldn’t have done it without the support of the very smart and brilliant team that I work with here in town.”
