Prince George could not continue their win streak even after a week’s break.
Despite keeping Saturday night a close contest against a nationally-ranked hockey club, the Cougars lost to the Vancouver Giants by a score of 2-1.
Forward Connor Bowie opened the scoring six minutes into the game for the Cats with his first of the season and third of his WHL career.
Kjell Kjemhus and Austin Crossley provided the helpers on the goal.
The Giants’ comeback was completed in the middle frame, netting two goals in under four minutes.
With those two goals against, the Cats have now been outscored 19-6 in the second period this season.
Prince George falls to a 7-8-1-2 record, but due to a 3-0 Kelowna loss in Portland, they hold on to third place in the BC Division by a single point.
They also remain three points back of Victoria for second after a 7-2 thumping by Spokane.
The back-end of the Cougars’ doubleheader against Vancouver takes place tomorrow afternoon (Sunday), 2PM in Langley.
Prince George returns home on Wednesday, 7PM against Kelowna.
