The new members of School District 57 (SD57) will take their elected seats this evening.
Tonight is the inaugural meeting between SD57’s new Board of Trustees, which includes Betty Bekkering, Trent Derrick, and Ron Polillo, along with incumbents Tim Bennett and Sharel Warrington.
The five will also vote for a chair, vice-chair, and two representatives for provincial education committees.
These consist of the BC School Trustees Association (BCSTA) and the BC Public School Employers’ Association (BCPSEA).
Members of the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation will be on hand for a ceremonial greeting and drum circle prior to the official swearing in.
Election results will also be made official for all the electoral areas (PG, Mackenzie, and the Robson Valley).
The meeting starts at 7PM from the SD57 offices on Ferry Avenue.
