Local First Nations Chief not entirely pleased with transportation review in Inquiry

A final report into the Missing Women’s Commission of Inquiry was released on Thursday.

Hoping to see plans for a shuttle service along highway 16, Carrier Sekani Chief Terry Teegee says he was disappointed in the lack of transportation attention.

Teegee calls the report a demonstration of patchwork, with no dedicated funding, and says they need to push the issue further:

“Even a feasibility study on a shuttle service would be a good start, so I think you know, we are going to have to pressure them to do something and have a look at the whole corridor along highway 16”

Conversely, the Transportation Ministry says the distance between these communities means that a one size fits all approach will not work, and while the government is providing $1.5 million for BC Transit to partner with some communities for local bus service, there are still holes where adequate service is not provided.

Something going on in the Prince George area you think people should know about?
