Halloween is not typically a busy night for Prince George RCMP.

The only thing Corporal Craig Douglass said really changes is the number of people out and about.

“Generally the Prince George RCMP don’t receive a whole lot of problems on Halloween. There is certainly a lot more people out on the road and we do get more calls for service than a typical night just because of the population and the number of people out on the streets,” explained Douglass. He also noted a few false alarms are not uncommon.

“We do get some shots fired-type reports that usually turn out to be fireworks but we’re not anticipating any major problems tonight, it should be a normal Halloween.”

PG RCMP has a few safety tips for parents and trick-or-treaters. These include things like staying on the sidewalk, planning ahead, and staying in groups if you are without an adult. Wearing lighter-coloured, flame-retardant costumes, and making sure your costume does not restrict your vision, is also recommended. You can find additional tips here.
