Make-A-Wish Canada has its own wish maker right here in Prince George.
Shannon Stratton set up a Bon Voyage party this evening, with help from Costumes for a Cause, for Bradley, whose wish it was to go Disneyland.
“He was really excited, ecstatic really. It’ll be good for him,” said Tyler, Bradley’s father. The family sets off on Thursday thanks to Make-A-Wish and their Northern BC volunteer.
Stratton said her daughter had a wish back in 2008 before she passed away in 2009.
“It was the most magical wish we could have had. It took me a little while to get back on my feet and recover from the loss of her, and then in 2014 I decided I was ready to do something so I could feel connected in a way that I could do something for other children.”
Since then, she’s been granting up to two wishes a year for other children in the Northern Region.
“It’s magical the way it was when my daughter got her wish. It feels good to make sure I make a dream come true for a child.”
Stratton wanted people to know that Make-A-Wish isn’t just for big cities, and if you have a child with a life-threatening illness, she’s here in town.
