Anyone heading down to the Prince George Farmers Market will notice an additional spot for vendors across the street.
Until the end of April 2019, the market has a lease with the Hubspace to allow for vendors to set up shop every market day. This is to make up for lost space from not being able to set up outside during winter.
Manager Jody Holmes hopes to fit upwards of 20 more vendors in the Hubspace.
“As long as you make it, bake it, grow it, we’re just looking for entrepreneurs, craftspeople, people who like to do baking or growing things or making food; growing season is pretty much over but some people are doing micro-greens and growing right in their homes now.”
At today’s market, free pumpkins, coffee, and treats were given out to help promote the new spot. Holmes is looking to incorporate a promotion like this about once per month.
He believes that, as well as the additional space, will continue to benefit an already successful year for the market.
“We have probably over a thousand people come through here every market day so that’s why we thought since we have a location here so close to the main market building, we thought a lot of people would come over to this spot,” Holmes explains.
“I think it’s a pretty good example today since [the Hubspace] is getting pretty decent traffic too.”
The market runs every Saturday from 8:30am to 2pm.
