Every year at this team, poppies are worn to honour and celebrate the lives of those who served their country.
The Poppy Campaign, put on by the Royal Canadian Legion, sees poppy stations set up around the country where people can pick them up for free or a donation.
Local veteran and Legion Branch 43 Service Officer, John Scott, explains what it means to him and other veterans when they see the support.
“Veterans like to be thanked for their service. It’s one of the things you did freely for your country and you like to see the other veterans, especially those who are injured, get recognized.
“Lots of people [in Prince George] wear them. We get a good turnout for our veterans on Remembrance Day. Prince George is very supportive, I love seeing people wear poppies because it means they’ve thought about us and they’ve also thought about helping out.”
Poppies are available at various locations around the city.
