A Prince George woman was fined today for driving more than 50km over the speed limit on Giscome Road.
According to the RCMP, the 49 year old was seen numerous times “travelling well in excess of the posted speed limit.” She was “allegedly travelling at 133 kms/hr” in a posted 80 km zone at 7:30 AM, when many people are commuting to school or work.
“When a crash happens, the faster a vehicle is travelling, the greater the damage will be, the more serious the injuries and the higher the risk of death” said Sgt Al Steinhauser, NCO i/c Prince George Regional Traffic Services.
“The faster the vehicle is travelling, the further it will take to stop. Even more so at this time of the year when roads can be slippery. Thankfully the vehicle was stopped before a possible crash occurred. When travelling, police wish to remind everyone to obey the rules of the road so we all arrive safely at our destination.”
The female was issued a violation ticket and her vehicle was impounded for seven days. The fine for excessive speeding starts at $368.
