At their meeting this evening, just two days before federal legalization, Prince George City Council gave third readings to four bylaws involving cannabis regulations and licensing.
Council estimated that with provincial licensing, it could take around three-to-four months for cannabis retailers to obtain a license in the city, and the application will cost $1,000.
“We’ve done a considerable amount of work, and now we have a framework in place to deal with cannabis applications,” said Mayor Lyn Hall.
“Staff did a great job and tonight we were able to solidify our process.”
It was also the last council meeting of the current council, and Hall thanked the council for their hard work over the last four years.
“We’ve done spectacular things because you are spectacular people.”
