Library hosting School Board hopefuls for “Coffee with the Candidates”

Voters are getting an opportunity for a personal encounter with School Board hopefuls.

This weekend candidates will be meeting for a “Coffee with the Candidates” session at the Prince George Public Library. It’s the first time this format has been used for School Board candidates.

Each candidate will be given up to two minutes to introduce themselves, they will then be invited to move to a casual seating area where there will be room for members of the public to sit and chat in small groups or one-on-one. The library will serve coffee for anyone participating in the session.

“This is a bit more casual, so you can get more one on one and ask specific questions in a less stressful kind of environment,” said Amy Dhanjal, communications coordinator for the library.

Dhanjal said they specifically chose to host the event to coincide with STEAM Saturday. Parents are welcome to drop their children (5-12 yrs. only) off for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math activities while they attend Coffee with the Candidates on the second floor.

Dhanjal said she’s had RSVP’s from all of the Prince George candidates, so they are expecting a full house.

Coffee with the Candidates is being held at the Prince George Public Library, Bob Harkins Branch (downtown), Second Floor on Saturday, October 13th from 1:30-3:00pm. Admission is free.
