Police are asking the public for help in finding a man who may have used a hammer in an attempted robbery.
At approximately 9:30am on Monday October 8th, Prince George RCMP received an urgent request to attend the intersection of 17th and Larch Street.
When they arrived, they found two males, one of whom appeared to be suffering from an injury to the head. Officers believe the two were walking on 17th Avenue when a lone male wearing a mask approached them and asked for their phones.
According to the RCMP, when the men refused, the suspect produced what they believe was a hammer and struck one of the men on the head. The suspect fled without any phones and has not been located.
The injured victim was treated in hospital and released.
The suspect is described as a white male anywhere from 20 to 30 years old. At the time, he was wearing a red jacket, loose black pants, and a mask covering his face.
Police would like to remind the public that the best course of action in a situation like this is to cooperate, as “items can be replaced, but lives cannot.”
