Christmas has come early for parts of Northern BC as some snow is already falling.
Highway 97 and the Pine Pass is under a snowfall warning from Environment Canada.
“Snow has actually begun already up in Fort Nelson and is expected to make its way down to the Peace River region and bring that snow over the Pine Pass later today and on the Pine Pass, we’re expecting up to 10 centimetres today,” said Jennifer Hay, Meteorologist.
While it’s still technically summer, places like the Pine Pass and Northwest Territories have to on their toes because of the frequent weather shifts.
“It is important to take into account where you live and if you’re in the Yukon or Northern BC you probably have to be ahead of the rest of us compared to us in the south when it comes to changing your tires over.”
“For us, we’re into the fall season but it is a little bit early to see this significant amount of snowfall coming through this early in the year.”
The weather office considers the period of September to November the fall season.
