Armstrong agrees to WHL contract with PG Cougars

The Prince George Cougars have signed their first pick in this year’s WHL Bantam Draft to a standard agreement.

Craig Armstrong, picked ninth overall by the Cats in May, notched 54 points (23G, 31A) in 34 games last season with the Airdrie Xtreme of the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League (AMBHL).

The 15-year-old also accumulated 24 additional points (13G, 9A) in 13 playoffs games with Airdrie en route to winning the 2018 AMBHL Championship, then an eventual appearance in the Western Canada Bantam ‘AAA’ final.

“Craig has a very bright future ahead. He’s a player with a high skill set that’s complimented by an excellent work ethic,” said Cougars general manager Mark Lamb in a team news release.

The Cougars are continuing their 2018 Training Camp this week, ending on Wednesday with the annual Black vs. White Game, 6PM at the CN Centre.
