Prince George Mounties are in the early stages of investigating what is believed to be a drugging incident.
Police have confirmed they’re looking into a report after social media circulation of women having no memory of leaving a local establishment late Saturday night, or how they got home the following morning.
According to one posting, some women are claiming they may have been drugged, including one who says she doesn’t remember having her first drink.
It goes on to describe one woman being rushed to hospital after ending up at her neighbour’s home in tears with no recollection of how she got there.
After undergoing blood and urine tests, the doctors didn’t find any signs of high blood alcohol levels, but also believe she may have been drugged.
The post also states the incidents are believed to have occurred between 10:15PM Saturday and 2:30AM Sunday.
RCMP Corporal Craig Douglass says police are investigating the incident, adding cases of date rape are rare in the Northern capital, but GHB has become more prevalent in the area.
No other details are being released at this time.
Police are reminding everyone choosing to socialize with alcohol to take the following precautions:
- Always attend with a trusted friend
- Never leave a friend behind
- Never leave a drink unattended
- Never accept a drink from someone you don’t know or trust
- Always arrange a safe ride home
- Advise loved ones of your plans
