57-year old woman still missing after Saturday’s mudslide on Highway 99 in Cache Creek

Ashcroft and Lillooet RCMP continue searching for a woman who was caught in the mudslide along Highway 99 over the weekend.

On Saturday afternoon at 5 police were called to the thirty-three hundred block of Highway 99, in Cache Creek, for a report of a vehicle that had been swept off the roadway in a mudslide in that area.

Media Relations officer Sgt Janelle Shoihet

“When police got to the scene they located a 57-year driver of a 1968 yellow Morgan convertible who reported that his vehicle along with his wife, who was a passenger in that vehicle was unaccounted for”.

Shoihet said Ashcroft RCMP along with RCMP Police Dog Service, Search and Rescue and Fire Service are continuing the search, however, efforts are being hampered by the quick moving water and unsafe conditions in and around the area of the mudslide.

Ashcroft RCMP is asking anyone who may have been a witness, or are in possession of dash cam video of the slide to contact them.
