YXS upgrades provide accessible options for those with mobility issues

YXS is celebrating the grand opening of the Elevator Link Building.

BC Air Access provided $2 million in funding to the airport for upgrades.

The first project was the rehabilitation of the main apron, completed last year, while the second was for the elevator, two staircases, and a sidewalk ramp just installed.

“Lack of accessibility to the long term parking has been the number one complaint by people using our airport,” said John Gibson, CEO and President in a statement.

The redevelopment provides accessible options for those who have mobility issues traveling from the parking lot to the terminal building.
