UPDATE: Victoria Street house fire leads to $250,000 in damage

UPDATE – 9:30AM:

An early morning house fire in the Gateway has resulted in damage worth $250,000.

Before 6:30AM today, Prince George firefighters from three different halls responded to reports of a duplex up in flames between Porter Avenue and Strathcona Avenue.

Nobody inside the two-storey structure was injured after being evacuated.

According to Assistant Fire Chief Jim Clemas, the fire is believed to have originated from the back of the home.

UPDATE – 7:30AM:

Prince George firefighters have extinguished a house fire this morning in the Gateway.

After 6AM, crews responded to multiple reports of a home up in flames between Porter Avenue and Strathcona Avenue near McDonalds, where the roads remains closed at this time.

The fire appeared to have originated from the second floor of the home and investigations are on-going, but no firm details have been released.

About half-a-dozen people are believed to be displaced from the residence, injury-free.

A house fire is occurring this morning in the Gateway area of Prince George according to multiple reports.

Listeners are saying the blaze is taking place at a home near the McDonalds at Victoria Street and 20th Avenue.

Crews are on scene working to put out the flames and roads are blocked off beyond the intersection, causing minor traffic delays.
