Prince George residents will have the chance to go around the world without having to leave the city.
The Immigrant and Multicultural Services Society’s A Day of Cultures Event takes place on Saturday from the Columbus Community Centre at 7201 Domano Boulevard.
The day will see a number of performances including Spanish, Mexican and Indian dancers.
It’s should be a cultural experience.
“Almost 21 booths are there and whole day performances are already booked and we have 11 food vendors who are coming over,” says Ravi Saxena, Spokesperson.
“Each culture is having their values, beliefs, and traditions so that is a positive for everyone to understand the different cultures they are bringing to the community.”
Despite all the racial tensions and radical movements taking place worldwide at the moment, Saxena believes its important for everyone in society to stand up and band together during this challenging time.
“At the end of the day we are one family, we are a northern family over here and it’s a very good positive for everyone to understand and respect each other’s culture despite things not going in a nice way so this is a great opportunity for everyone to come and share their beliefs.”
The event runs from 11:30 to 4:30 and will include traditional cultural food and music.
Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for students and seniors while children 12 and under get in free.
