A report shows an increase in criminal activity in Prince George.
Statistics Canada released their Crime Severity Index numbers for populations over 10,000 where Prince George jumped from 17th in 2016 to 11th in 2017.
Violent crime increased from 141.94 to 167.33 crimes per 10,000 people between 2016 and 2017, with the national average sitting at 80.
Non-violent crime was also up from 157.1 in 2016 to 176.91 per 10,000 in 2017.
PG’s Crime Severity Index per 100,000 was sitting at 154 also placing us 11th in the country for the most dangerous city; Canada’s average is 70.96.
We have reached out to the local detachment, but no comment has been made so far.
