BC Coroners making public inquest in former PG RCMP member’s death

It’s been nearly five years to the date since a former Prince George RCMP officer died from what appeared to be self-inflicted wounds.

On July 29th, 2013, Sergeant Pierre Jean Dabe Lemaitre was found dead in Abbotsford at the age of 55, but the BC Coroners Service believes there may be more to his case.

Starting November 19th at the Burnaby Coroners’ Court, the Service will put out a public inquest for more information about the 22-year veteran of the BC RCMP and the circumstances surrounding his death.

Under the Coroners Act, this type of inquest can only be made by the chief coroner if they have reason to believe the public has an interest in being informed of someone’s death and the practices or circumstances surrounding it.

The public can go through a process to present any evidence relating to Lemaitre’s death.
