UNBC and CNC has received $75,000 each to go towards co-op and other work-integrated opportunities.
Approximately $1.9 million in funding is being provided to all of B.C.’s 25 public universities and colleges in the province.
This money will increase awareness of the benefits of work-integrated learning to employers and students, along with improving their capacity to place students in workplace based learning opportunities.
The government hopes this will work to help expand and bring chances for students to receive work experience through co-op education.
In 2016-17, there were approximately 15,250 student co-op work placements. This was an increase of almost 40 per cent since 2011-12.
Students can find co-op placements anywhere in the world, but around 82 per cent in 2016-17 were placed in British Columbia.
