Yoga in the park is seeing growing popularity

Residents are doing their best downward dog at the free yoga session in the Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park.

Every Sunday for the last few years Chinook Yoga has been bringing the community together for both a family event and to raise money for charities.

“For the last couple of years, we’ve allowed each teacher who teaches to choose a non-profit organization to raise funds for. It’s optional for people if they want to donate,” Co-owner Jaylene Pfeifer.

There are over 14 teachers at the studio and typically they do eight sessions through the summer that sees dozens of people come out.

“This is a growing thing for sure. Our first class this summer with Carla, my business partner, taught and there was 290 people. You never really know how many people are going to show up.”

The next session is July 29th, at 10am.
