Mother deer gives birth to two fawns at UNBC

Staff and students at UNBC were able to witness a doe giving birth to two healthy fawns in one of their gardens.

The university enhanced security and blocked off the area so the mother and her babies could have their space before returning to the forest.

If anyone witnesses an animal giving birth there are a few things to keep in mind says Conservation Officer Eamon McAurhter.

“If it’s happening somewhere public or there could be concerns for the animals safety and peoples safety, we advise people call our RAPP line. Otherwise just give the animal a wide birth. You can observe but just sure your thinking about both the animal and your safety.”

McArthur added if someone is caught harassing animals you could be fined $345.
