Canada Day celebrations in the City are expecting to help Prince George’s economy.
Families usually spend time traveling to various places through the province in the summertime, with the Northern Capital acting as a hub for overnight visitors.
Tourism PG CEO, Erica Hummel says there are certain areas to benefit more than others.
“I think the restaurants and the hotel sector. Sometimes Prince George is more known for Monday to Friday business travel but I think with these long weekend activities that keep growing and getting better we are going to see more no vacancy signs, which is what we are pushing for.”
Hummel says we may not see the amount of foot traffic as last year though.
“We were very busy but it was for the wrong reasons. We had lots of evacuees and lots of travelers who were on route and getting displaced and having to change their travel plan mid-way.”
