UPDATE: Air advisory over in Prince George

UPDATE:

An air quality advisory issued for Prince George this morning has now ended after several hours.

ORIGINAL STORY:

It appears the warm air, humidity, and light winds this morning has brought a lot of dust into Prince George.

As a result, BC Ministry of Environment meteorologists have issued an air quality advisory for the Northern capital surrounding areas.

The index has gone almost five clicks above the normal 25 micrograms-per-cubic-metre mark, and Northern Health suggests those with chronic underlying illnesses to stay inside near cooler air.

The concern is also with children, seniors, those with diabetes and lung or heart disease.

The City of Prince George has also banned all open burning, including backyard fires and street sweeping until the advisory has been lifted.
