The City of Prince George released its 2017 Annual Report and Corporate Plan.
The document highlights some of the major events that took place in the Northern Capital, such as the Cariboo Wildfire response and the referendum to replace Fire Hall #1 and the Four Seasons Leisure Pool.
Prince George saw over 10,000 evacuees and over 3,000 volunteers help those in need during the fires.
The City plans to work on upgrading its Community Wildfire Protection Plan, which will involve the identification of risk areas, strategies to mitigate risks, and public education.
Another highlight was construction for both 2016 and 2017, as a record was set for building permits equalling almost a quarter-of-a-billion dollars of investment, a majority of that coming from the private sector.
For 2018, the City is focusing on revitalizing downtown as construction commences on its Four-Phase Housing Development with underground parking.
