A three day health research conference in Prince George is wrapping up today.
The annual IDC Research Days is a partnership between UNBC and Northern Health; Tammy Hoefer is the regional manager of the IDC:
“The purpose is to bring together researchers and front line care providers to stimulate facilitation, collaboration and innovation across the north for the purpose of improving health outcomes.”
The conference enjoyed strong attendance. Tammy provided an example one of the issues they were tackling over the past 3 days;
“To provide and support families whose children have been diagnosed with FASD (fetal alcohol syndrome) that have historically been on waiting lists for up to 2-3 years. So they’ve been working together to look at system changes and how to better support those families”
The conference also focused on improving the overall healthcare experience for all users, the theme this year was Partners in Health: Communities, Families, Researchers and Care Providers
