Several members of the Prince George Cougars have made a strong academic step by taking a new program at the CNC that adapts to their busy major junior hockey schedules.
A catered Kinesiology course is being taught by Ann Holmes at the College of New Caledonia, and she says its a great model for other institutions, showing just how receptive the students can be:
“In a face to face model they were finding that the completion rates for online courses weren’t that high, so as a face to face model they show up they work together as a group to do the readings and the assignments, things like that. But because its tailored and suited to their schedule we’re intending that the attendance and the completion rate is going to be very successful”
While the program focuses on Kinesiology, Holmes sees no reason why other areas of study can follow a similar model and adapt to the needs of the students.
