Heroes and villains swarm Northern FanCon 2018

Fans of Star Wars, Marvel and video games donned their masks and capes at Northern FanCon 2018 in the CN Centre.

Individuals took to the convention by dressing up as characters and had a chance to meet some celebrities in their favourite sci-fi movies and show.

The weekend event was chock full of activities for families and fans to take part in, like comic book shops and arcade video games.

Cosplayer Colin Hochachka says it’s amazing to see other people interested in the same thing.

“It’s mostly about all the people. People are great at these events. Lots of wallflower people who you don’t really see them or talk to them to much. It’s good to see them being themselves.”

People from all over the North came to take part in the event. Anne Bullock drove up from Kamloops to check out the convention this year.

“We really wanted to see Kevin Smith again. It was our Kevin Smith hat trick.”

Over the past four years more than 50,000 people have attended Northern FanCon in Prince George.
