Annual Bike To Work & School Week fast approaching

Northern Health is promoting the benefits of taking advantage of riding your bicycle.

Regional Nursing Lead Taylor Endean highlights why more people should choose to ride than drive.

“There are health, financial and person benefits. Riding your bike increases your physical activity level, lowers the risk of chronic disease, increases focus and mental health and biking is a low impact activity.”

To help spread the awareness Northern Health is holding it’s annual “Bike To Work & School Week”, which will run from May 28th until June 3rd.

Word of mouth is the best way to spread health awareness added Endean.

“I think if you see a co-worker, friend or family out doing it, that will make you want to try it as well. I know for myself it would definitely encourage me to get out there and try something new.”

The Canadian Physical Activity Guidelines recommends adults get at least 150 minutes of physical activity per week.
