PGSAR encourages people to wait before deciding to float down the river

It feels like Prince George has skipped spring and dived right into summer, making some people thinking about getting out on the river.

But when it comes to rafting down the Nechako River, you should wait later in the season says Prince George Search and Rescue’s Dale Bull.

“Especially early in the spring and the start of summer the rivers will be higher and flowing faster and colder than normal. You need to be cautious when around moving water and we always encourage everyone on the river to have a life jacket and be wearing it at all times.”

Bull added it’s definitely to early for anyone to be floating down the river and reminds individuals who have started jet boating to make your safety a top priority.

PG Search and Rescue practices all year round and in the summer will be working on Swiftwater practice to ensure they are prepared when needed.
