For all intensive purposes, this past weekend’s Junk in the Trunk event was a big success for REAPS.
People flooded to the event from start to finish and every stall available was thought to be filled; until 19 vendors did not show up.
“Other years we have maybe five or six that don’t show up but never this great amount and we had a waiting list of over 100 people,” explains Executive Director Terri McClymont before getting on to the upcoming change.
“The September 29th [Junk in the Trunk], you have to preregister and pay your ten dollars, which is non-refundable.”
Without those 19 vendors, REAPS lost out on $190.
“We have 125 stalls that we book and that gives us $1,250 to pay for our insurance for the year,” McClymont says.
“So when those ‘no-shows’ don’t show up, we are shorted that money that goes towards our insurance.”
