Lakeland Mill worker treatment adds tension to BC Legislature

The 2012 explosion at the Lakeland Mill turned out to be a touchy subject in Legislature earlier this week, as NDP opposition leader John Horgan was not pleased with the Liberal governments treatment of the victims:

“These men went to work to support themselves and their families expecting this BC Liberal government to have them covered when it comes to safety standards. In Prince George after the explosion the Premier said in local media, and I quote, “We will be there to support you, we have your back” why is the premier leaving these workers blowing in the wind, how is that covering their workers backs?”

Meanwhile, Jobs Minister Shirley Bond, In response to those comments, said she was not at liberty to discuss individual case details.

Horgan says he will be revisiting the issue at a later date, once he checks in with the state of the workers.
