UNBC holding a Councillor meet and greet

The Political Science Student Association is inviting the public to a meet the candidates forum Thursday evening at UNBC.

The aim of the meet and greet is to raise the political awareness of the Prince George youth, and to hopefully increase voter turnout among students in doing so.

PSSA co-president Seth Jex gave a reason for low youth election turnouts:

“I think its the same thing we see in Federal and Provincial politics, it’s a double edged sword. Students or youth are sort of discouraged because they feel like they are not represented by their elected officials, and so they don’t vote and because they don’t vote elected officials don’t represent them because of course the legal system runs on who’s voting”

Jex hopes the meeting will give students the chance to be more involved in the political landscape, and you can catch the meet and greet at the UNBC’s Bentley center from 6 to 9 pm.

Something going on in the Prince George area you think people should know about?
