Ramada employees protest working conditions

A demonstration was held outside the Prince George Ramada Hotel Thursday afternoon.

UNITE HERE! Local 40 members, along with hotel workers, campus groups, and community allies organized a rally in fron of the hotel to protest working conditions.

“People are having their hours cut dramatically and there are positions that are being completely cut out,” says one worker, Stacey Moen.

“So people are having to do the workload of two or three people all the time and supplies are being reduced or not there at all.”

The two sides have been bargaining a new contract for nearly a year at this point. Moen says they will continue to fight back until a solution is found.

“Push the company to listen to us and to sit down and give us a fair contract or give us the supplies and the thought to sit down with us and listen to what we have concerns about.”

Ramada Prince George gave a written statement stating the company “will continue to bargain in good faith with Unite Here Local 40 and, to that end, it would be inappropriate to make any public comment at this time.”
