Schools across the nation are planning to participate in Jersey Day tomorrow to honour the 16 people killed in the Humboldt bus crash.
A group of hockey mom’s from BC created the Facebook event to show support to the families effected by the tragedy.
“We are all connected to Humbodlt,” says Tim Bennett, SD57 chairperson.
“We know many of our schools are participating in the nation wide Jersey Day to send their support to the victims, families, and for the communities who are in a time of mourning.”
Bennett added their district puts on 13,000 kilometers in buses daily, and hearing about an incident like this really impacts all parents who send their kids off everyday.
“When you hear this type of tragedy it has an impact on our schools and our community, and I think our schools are rallying to support the community of Humboldt in anyway they can.”
Since the launch of the Facebook group, over six thousand people say they will participate.
For students who don’t own a jersey they can wear green and gold.
