Prince George police have arrested a youth male in connection to recent social media threats towards a local high school.
Evidence found by investigators believe he acted alone and there’s no risk for students returning to DP Todd Secondary school after Spring Break on Tuesday.
Before 11AM this morning, RCMP found the individual and he remains in custody until a future court date.
Later in the afternoon, the detachment’s Serious Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at a home, but no firearms or legitimate harm threat was found.
A social media account was discovered Wednesday night with posts of threats towards DP Todd Secondary school, but was deleted one hour after it was created.
He is set to be released on certain conditions, including no possession of computer devices and no internet access.
Police say they’re continuing to ensure student safety at all schools within School District 57 (SD57), calling this act unacceptable in the community.
Anyone with more information is asked to call the Prince George RCMP at (250) 561-3300, or Crime-Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
