Toopy & Binoo visit sick kids at UHNBC

A visit from a pair of cartoon stars put smiles on the faces of sick kids at University Hospital of Northern BC Thursday morning.

Toopy and Binoo, stars of the cartoon of the same name brought to life, stopped by the pediatric ward to visit some kids who won’t be able to make their show at CN Centre later in the evening..

Child Life Specialist Sandra Wyatt at UHNBC says visits like these mean a lot to the kids.

“It’s just fabulous that we can arrange for them to come and visit the sick kids, or the out patient kids, who might not be able to go to the show because they’re sick, so to actually see them here,” she says. “It gives them a boost for the day, it’s something else to talk about besides being sick.”

Host of the stage show Brittany Hunter lives to put a smile on a kid’s face.

“This is why we do what we do,” she says. “I mean, these kids, seeing their faces light up when they see their favourite TV stars, as it would be for them, come into their room, or just walk out in front of them, their faces light up, it’s just the best feeling in the world.”

The Toopy and Binoo stage show “Fun and Games” starts at 6:30 p.m. at CN Centre, Thursday.
